Distinguished SPE award presented to Austrian plastics entrepreneur May 20, 2008

Werner Wittmann recognized for his excellence in business management  

Dr. Werner Wittmann, president and founder of Wittmann Kunststoffgeraete GmbH, was presented with the 2008 SPE Business Management Award during the recent ANTEC 2008 (Annual Technical Conference of the Society of Plastics Engineers) in Milwaukee, WI.

Dr. Wittmann started his career in the plastics industry more than 30 years ago when he founded Wittmann in Vienna, Austria, in 1976. Over the past three decades, the company has become a global player and industry leader in injection molding technology and auxiliary equipment including: robotics and automation systems, material handling and material drying equipment, temperature control equipment, in-mold labeling systems, and granulators.

With his understanding of both the global industry as well as local markets, he has acquired a number of companies over the years in order to expand the Wittmann product line. Most recently, Wittmann bought the Austrian injection molding machine manufacturer Battenfeld, making Wittmann the first company worldwide to provide a fully integrated product line-up for injection molding.
