  • Camel milk chocolate for the UAE market The Viennese company Manner processes camel milk from Dubai

    20. November 2008 Dubai has entered into a successful venture with the Austrian company Josef Manner AG based in Vienna, Austria. The venture is to produce high quality chocolate using locally produced camel milk.

    The project was initiated three years ago under the vision of his Excellency Sheik Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the UAE. At present the chocolate is produced in Austria to maintain the high quality and texture of the product. It will later be relocated to the UAE after some time. A new company called HM Chocolate was founded exclusively for this purpose. The new chocolate is called “Al Nassma” and is available in five different kinds.

    HM Chocolate is a joint venture between Johann Hochleitner, a chocolate producer from Salzburg, and Josef Manner AG from Vienna. HM Chocolate has forecasted a sale of a 100 tones for the year 2009. At present the chocolate is only available in Dubai in selected retail outlets like in the Mall of Dubai (the world’s biggest shopping mall) or in the duty free area of Dubai airport. It’s also available in the first and business class of Emirates Airlines and in the Jumeirah hotels.

  • Austrian Crystal Chandeliers for the Beach Palace in Dubai Dotzauer Lighting from Lower Austria expands in the UAE

    18. November 2008 Dotzauer Decorative Lighting, a specialist for crystal lighting from Austria, could land its biggest order in the company’s history. Dotzauer is going to provide the Beach Palace of Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, with crystal chandeliers. The contract volume is about 1.6 million Euros, far above its average contract volume of about 200.000 Euros. Dotzauer Decorative Lighting exports 70 to 80 per cent of its products and has about 40 employees.

    The hotels, palaces and villas of the Gulf States became the most important market for the well established Austrian company. Dotzauer chandeliers can also be admired in the seven star hotel Burj al Arab and on The Palm in Dubai.

  • Green Austria - Sustainable Construction and New Technologies Austrian companies on a Road Show through the UAE

    12. November 2008 In the field of environmental technology, Austria occupies a leading role among European countries.

    Clean technologies represent more than half the turnover involving environmental technology in Austria, followed by downstream pollution control, with 34 percent, and 11 percent in the field of metering and control technology. In all, environmental-technology turnover in Austria totals nearly four bn Euros.

    The Austrian Trade Commission is organizing a Road Show “Sustainable Construction and New Technologies” to Abu Dhabi 20th November and Dubai 23rd and 24th November 2008. 16 participating innovative Austrian companies from all areas of the construction and infrastructure sector will join the over 35 Austrian companies presenting their products at the Austrian Pavilion at the Big 5 Trade Fair in Dubai on the 23rd and 24th November. We are very pleased to see the biggest ever Austrian delegation of the construction industry in the UAE, which is surely a sign that the UAE’s message to join efforts in regard to a cleaner, healthier and safer environment is reaching the world.
